What I Want es una canción de esas que que te hacen sentir bien. Una que vas a querer escuchar para ponerte de buen humor mientras vas conduciendo en el coche lista para empezar un día perfecto. Es una canción que habla sobre darte cuenta que buscar lo que quieres está bien y vas a ir con todo a por ello. A mi me gusta especialmente la parte que dice: «He pasado demasiado tiempo no sabiendo lo que quería, como lo quería, como vivirlo. Y ahora voy a recuperar el tiempo perdido de una vez». Básicamente porque me recuerda mucho a ese momento después de salir del armario conmigo misma. De darme cuenta que me gustaban las chicas y pasarme por el bar gay por primera vez y un poco revivir la adolescencia porque por fin te encontrabas a tope en un lugar donde no te sentías incómoda. Por fin habías encontrado lo que te gustaba e ibas a por ello.

La comunidad queer generalmente es hipersexualizada, y vivimos en una sociedad tan puritana que pienso que nos enseñan a todos a sentirnos avergonzados de nuestra sexualidad. La vergüenza puede estar muy arraigada y a veces te toma una vida liberarte de ella. Tratar de desafiar ese paradigma es lo que intentamos hacer con la música. Mucho de lo que hace nuestra música es imaginar realidades que no necesariamente existen para todos. «What I Want» es una canción sobre el deseo y la voluntad, sobre sexo y sexualidad y todas esas cosas que nos enseñan que deberían avergonzarnos, sobre todo como personas queer. También, es simplemente una canción divertida.
