¿Se han encontrado con que sus feeds de Twitter, Facebook e Instagram estaban llenos de morado el día de ayer Lesbicanarias? Pues es porque todos los años, el tercer jueves de octubre se celebra el Spirit Day. ¿Pero por qué se celebra esta día?
¿Cómo nació el Spirit Day?
Hace 5 años una estudiante de secundaria llamada Brittany McMillan creo el Spirit Day, ese año en EEUU hubo una racha muy triste de jóvenes LGBT que se suicidaron debido al acoso escolar que sufrían, así que Brittany decidió responder pidiéndole a sus compañeros que se vistieran de morado para demostrar que ellos estaban en contra del acoso y a favor de la juventud LGBT. Para que otras personas que estuvieras pasando por lo mismo se dieran cuenta de que, aunque hubiera gente que los molestaba, habían muchísimas más personas que estaban de su lado.
En estos cinco años, el Spirt Day ha ido creciendo a nivel internacional y cada vez más países y personas se unen para vestirse de morado este día y mostrarle al mundo que quieren vivir en un lugar donde todos tengamos derecho a vivir felices y a expresarnos tal y como somos.
